Get Ready To Party Like Dali This NYE
In 1972 Marie-Hélène de Rothschild held her now world famous Surrealist Ball at her Chateau at Ferrières in France. Everyone from Audrey Hepburn to the Surrealist Salvador Dali himself attended, decked in fancy dress and Surrealist head pieces that have influenced arty parties since. Guests wore birdcages, painted their faces like the sky, turned phonographs into hats, and wore animal faces while dining off of candelabra mannequins, furry plates, and broken baby dolls. The Roxy Hotel is excited to present their 2nd Annual rendition of this Surrealist Ball, after a wildly successful- and wildly fun- ball that rang in 2016! Put on your fancy dress, strap a lobster to your head, and get ready to party like Dali.
This year’s Surrealist Ball promises to properly send off 2016, and inspire with sights and sounds. Live music by Roxy regulars Michael Garin and Bill Dobrow will be joined by the DJ stylings of Soul Clap’s Jonathan Toubin, as well as Aku and Alix Brown, headlined by a very special performance by Buster Poindexter. The Roxy’s chef is creating a very special Surrealist-inspired menu for Bar and Premium sating, which will be washed down by Premium Open Bar for all guests from 9:00pm-1:00am.
Legendary nightlife icon Kenny Kenny will set the mood with his crew of fantastical club kid looks, as well as co-host Muffinhead and his troupe, who will perform in their signature Surrealist looks (and pose for photos of course!), and designer Max Steiner will showcase his gorgeous line of fine art face masks. As always, Surrealist-inspired dress code is encouraged- but not required. Think fancy dress, with a wacky twist- channeling influences from Salvador Dali, Man Ray, Blitz Club, Lady Gaga, Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Leigh Bowery, Club Kids, Cubist, New Romantics, Rene Magritte, Paco Rabanne, Jodorowsky, Nick Cave sound suits, Philip Tracey, Isabella Blow, Viktor & Rolf, Matthew Barney and the Pyramid Club to get you started. There are no wrong answers in Surrealism! We’ll have some surreal options available at the front desk for those who get to the party early.
Tickets are available in three tiers: General Admission ($99), Bar Seating ($159) and Premium Seating ($199). For more event information and to purchase your tickets, please click here.
