Music has always left an indelible impression on cinema. Many of the tracks featured in this playlist have become cinematic shorthand precisely because of that power. They carry cultural memories, visual associations, and emotional histories with them. Like the best films, these songs trust us to connect the images ourselves. Filmmaking relies on images, dialogue, and plot to guide an audience toward meaning. Music, however, creates narrative through emotional association. A song can establish a character, evoke an era, suggest an entire backstory, or communicate a feeling that would take pages of screenplay to articulate.
